Special Needs Educator (SEND Specialist)
Location: Cambridge (in-person and hybrid opportunities)
Employment Type: Full-time, 32.5 Hours per week
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Deliver structured one-to-one and small-group teaching in Mathematics, Science and/or English aligned with the English National Curriculum.
2. Conduct diagnostic assessments to identify learning gaps and inform personalised intervention planning.
3. Design and implement targeted, outcome-driven intervention programmes for pupils requiring additional academic support.
4. Support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
5. Apply inclusive and trauma-informed teaching strategies to support engagement, confidence, and progress.
6. Monitor, evaluate, and record pupil progress using structured assessment and professional judgement.
7. Produce clear written progress reports for parents, schools, and local authority partners.
8. Liaise professionally with teachers, SENCOs, and other education professionals to ensure continuity of learning.
9. Maintain accurate educational records in line with safeguarding and data protection requirements.
10. Engage in reflective practice, supervision, and continuous professional development
Candidate Profile
​Essential:

Experience working with children with SEND
-
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics, English, or Science

Ability to differentiate instruction effectively
-
Excellent communication and rapport-building skills
-
Commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
Desirable:
-
QTS, SEN qualification, or postgraduate degree in Education/Psychology/STEM
-
Experience preparing students for SATs, 11+, or GCSE examinations
-
Familiarity with EHCP frameworks
-
Experience in trauma-informed or relational pedagogy
